A new chapter in Hong Kong, and a note of gratitude
Hello, this is Junko Kemi, Founder and Lead Designer of kay me.
Today, I would like to share with you one joyful piece of news,
and also one deeply important message.
First, I am pleased to share that starting from September 1, kay me will open a permanent store at SOGO Causeway Bay in Hong Kong.
This new step has only been possible because of all of you who visited us at our pop-ups,
and everyone who has supported us along the way.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
On the very same day, however, I also received some deeply sad news.
I learned that a quality control manager at our main sewing factory,
someone who had supported kay me since our earliest days,
passed away unexpectedly.
She was one of the people who stood behind kay me’s craftsmanship
for the past 15 years.

Working with stretch fabrics and threads,
she helped bring our gathers and drapes into beautiful three-dimensional form.
She would often smile and say,
“kay me pieces are never easy to make.”
And yet, she always thought tirelessly about how we could deliver
the highest possible quality to our customers.
She also guided and supported many members of the sewing team.

I still remember how she would look at a dress on a mannequin and say,
“When you see it like this, it really is beautiful.”
Then she would smile and add,
“I can already picture the wonderful woman who will wear it.”

Whenever I shared customer feedback with her,
she listened so happily.
Behind every piece we deliver,
there is a deep accumulation of care, skill, and devotion like hers.
At times, she gave me strict advice as well.
But as someone who knew almost nothing about manufacturing when I first began,
she was also one of the people who taught me the most important perspectives in making clothes.

What she always looked forward to most
was seeing Japanese-made clothing reach women around the world.
With gratitude for her and for the path she helped build,
we will continue to create and deliver clothing that makes women say,
“That was so comfortable.”
“I received so many compliments.”
“That truly helped me.”
Ms. Ohashi,
please continue to watch over us.

We hope you will take a moment to explore these masterpieces, shaped by her passion and craftsmanship.
Performance pieces shaped by Japanese craftsmanship
With heartfelt thanks,
Junko Kemi
